Co-Creating Scientific Futures Rooted in Planetary Belonging

The Caribbean Future of Science Symposium 2025 gathered scientists, technologists, policymakers, and artists across the Caribbean and around the globe to explore new possibilities for science in a changing world. With Everard Findlay serving as Head of Strategy, the symposium was designed as more than an academic convening — it became a site of convergence between scientific innovation and cultural stewardship.

From astrophysics to climate research, from computational models to music technologies, the event centered interdisciplinary dialogue as a catalyst for collective imagination. Under the guidance of Planetary Self’s systems vision, participants reflected on the power of place, memory, and shared responsibility to shape the next frontier of science — one grounded in reciprocity, equity, and care for the future of all beings.

This symposium affirmed the Caribbean as both ancestral ground and future hub — a region capable of informing planetary-scale solutions through its own wisdom, creativity, and scientific leadership.

WWD featured Sarah Kjelleren as “One to Watch” in the next generation of fashion photographers. Her personal work is dedicated to community impact projects and storytelling with individuals that hold influence in the art, music, technology and sustainability industries. Sarah is currently a “Change in Resident” with See Change Sessions.

Findlay has served on the board of GrowNYC, the Council for the Environment of New York City since 2009 and is currently Communications Chair.
